Frequently asked questions

How plans, payments, invoices and licences work.

Plans & pricing

Basic covers the day-to-day essentials for one device: for Restaurant Manager, the dashboard, ordering station, orders and tables; for Retail POS, billing, checkout with barcode scanning, and a product catalogue with stock tracking. Both include full management and configuration, thermal printer support (2" and 3") and view-only reports. Standard adds GST/tax compliance, backup and restore, report export (CSV/XLSX) and import/export of your configuration and data. Premium adds cross-device sync for multi-device setups, WhatsApp integration, and either a Kitchen Display System screen (Restaurant Manager) or Amazon/Flipkart integration (Retail POS). Each plan includes everything in the plan below it.

Yes. Each licence covers one device for one term, currently a year. If you run three billing counters, you need a licence for each. You can group your devices under branches in one account.

GST/tax compliance is part of the Standard and Premium plans. If you need GST-compliant billing, choose Standard or higher.

Yes. You can upgrade from your account at any time. You pay only the price difference between the two plans for the days left on your licences, the upgrade takes effect straight away, and your expiry date does not change. An upgrade applies to every running licence in the branch.

A plan cannot be lowered in the middle of a term, and the price of the current term is not refunded or reduced. When your licence ends, you can buy your next licence on a lower plan instead of renewing on the same one. If the branch had add-ons (for example KDS screens), moving off Premium removes them: see the KDS section below.

All licences in a branch end on the same date, so there is only one renewal date to remember. A device you add part-way through pays only for the days left until that date, rounded up to the next whole rupee, instead of a full year.

KDS screens (Restaurant Manager)

A KDS (Kitchen Display System) screen shows live orders to your kitchen staff on another PC in the same branch, running Restaurant Manager. It is part of the Premium plan: every Premium device includes one KDS screen at no extra charge. You can add more, up to 3 screens per device, for ₹1,000 a year each (see the Add-ons on the pricing page for the current price). Basic and Standard do not include KDS.

After payment, the screen appears under its main device on the Devices tab of your account as a licence that is not on a device yet. Click Claim this device, give the screen a name and paste its device fingerprint (Settings → About in Restaurant Manager on that PC). The screen is added to the same branch and named KDS Screen - <name>, and the licence is locked to that PC.

Open the main device's Edit panel on the Devices tab and choose Add Extra KDS Screen. A screen added part-way through the term pays only for the days left until that device's licence ends, rounded up to the next whole rupee, and ends on the same date. You can also add screens when you buy Premium or upgrade to it.

They renew together with the main device they belong to, on the same date, in the same order and payment. The screen included with Premium renews at no charge, and any extra screens renew at the add-on price. If the main device's licence lapses, its KDS screens stop working until it is renewed.

A plan can only be lowered once your licences have ended (see "Can I downgrade my plan?" above). Because Basic and Standard do not include add-ons such as KDS screens, choosing one of them when you renew a branch that had add-ons asks you to confirm first. If you go ahead, all of that branch's add-ons (such as KDS screens) and their devices are deleted automatically when your payment is approved, and this cannot be undone. Add-ons you paid for are not refunded. Renewing on Premium keeps them.

Payments & invoices

By UPI. At checkout you scan the QR code (or use the payment link) with any UPI app, then enter the payment reference (UTR) from your app. We do not accept cards, we never store card details, and nothing is charged automatically.

Verification usually takes about a day. Until we approve your payment, your order shows as Under review on your Payments page, and your licences are issued as soon as it is approved.

While your order is under review, or if it was rejected, you can correct the reference from the Payments page and it goes back for review.

No. An order you have not paid, and have not submitted a payment reference for, is removed automatically after an hour. Nothing is taken from you, and you can simply start checkout again.

When we approve your payment, we email the invoice as a PDF to your account email. You can also view, download or print it any time from the Payments page in your account.

In some cases, for example a duplicate payment or a verified software glitch in ZippyBills that we could not resolve. Read the full Refund Policy.

Licences & devices

No. ZippyBills never auto-renews or auto-debits. You can renew from your account during the 30 days before a licence expires. The new term starts when the current one ends, so you do not lose any days you have paid for.

Yes. A licence is tied to one device at a time, identified by its fingerprint. If you replace or reinstall a machine, update the fingerprint on your Devices page. To stop one licence being shared across machines, a fingerprint can be changed once in any 30 days, and the first change is free so you can fix a typo.

Yes. Add each location as a branch and its devices under it. Each branch has a single renewal date for all its licences.

Internet, clock & updates

Each PC, and each kitchen display, has its own licence and refreshes it by itself. A refresh is only a couple of KB, and the app retries automatically. The Refresh button on the Dashboard forces one. The licence keeps working for 2 days without a refresh.

The best fix is to connect the shop's router (or a travel router) to a phone hotspot or USB dongle, so every PC gets internet with no setup on each one. Other options: USB tethering on a wired PC, or Windows Internet Connection Sharing on your main PC. A proxy on the main PC can also work, but it must be set by IP address (for example 192.168.1.10:3128), it must allow port 443, and we have not tested it.

Please update every PC and kitchen display to the latest build from the Downloads page. Older builds are not supported by the licence server and will stop refreshing their licence, and the PC locks once its 2 days without a refresh are up.

It appears when the PC's clock, or the clock of the PC that holds your database, is more than 1 hour out, or when the Windows time zone is not India Standard Time (UTC+05:30). Bills and reports can carry the wrong date until it is fixed, so correct the date, time and time zone in Windows.

Set the correct date and time in Windows, connect the PC to the internet, then restart the app or press Refresh on the Dashboard. You rarely need to activate again.
